2S14 Zara-S was developed in the late 1970s. Its design requirements are to provide BTR-60 and BTR-70 with supportive firepower and firepower with enemy tanks. In order to achieve this design intent, the former Soviet engineers installed an 85mm-calibre anti-tank gun on the BTR-70's chassis.
The weapon had the ability to destroy NATO's small-caliber main battle tanks at the time, but the BTR-70's chassis was too low to withstand the attack of the other's anti-tank weapons. The Zhalo-S's gun model was 2A62. An improved version of the D44 anti-tank gun during World War II.
