Trumpeter 02430 1/24 Republic P-47N Thunderbolt

The Republic P-47N Thunderbolt was the final, dedicated long-range version of the famous World War II American fighter. It was developed specifically for the vast distances of the Pacific Theater to serve as an escort for B-29 bombers on missions to the Japanese home islands, a role previously difficult for the shorter-range P-47D. The "N" variant achieved this critical capability by incorporating a completely redesigned, larger wing that housed additional fuel tanks, dramatically increasing its combat radius to over 2,000 miles. Like all Thunderbolts ("The Jug"), it was known for its ruggedness, high diving speed, and devastating firepower, typically eight 0.50 caliber machine guns and a substantial load of bombs and rockets.
