The D-30 122mm howitzer (also known as 2A18) was the first type of howitzer to serve in the Soviet Union in the 1960s. It is relatively light in weight, easy to operate, suitable for field use, and has a relatively long range. The range of the D-30 full charge reaches 15.4 kilometers, and it can exceed 21 kilometers when using extended range bombs.

The D-30 artillery has a unique three-legged large frame, can shoot 360 degrees, and the rate of fire is relatively fast. Although the gun was no longer produced in the former Soviet Union, the D-30 was still authorized by many countries and still serves in the military of more than 60 countries.

The 2A18 artillery is also the main weapon of the 2S1 self-propelled howitzer. At the same time, Egypt, China, and Syria have also developed their own self-propelled artillery systems based on it. Among them, the Syrian model also uses the body of the T-34 tank.
