The prototype of the Model 630 made its first flight on April 25, 1936 and the first examples entered service in 1938. The Model 630, a daytime fighter version, had some mechanical problems and was grounded. On the other hand, the model 631, night fighter version, will be more successful and 208 copies were delivered to the Air Force.
