Roden 610 1/32 Siemens Schuckert D.III

Siemens-Schuckert DI was a German biplane fighter with fixed landing gear from the First World War. The drive was provided by a single 110 HP Siemens-Halske Hs.I engine. The prototype took off in 1916 and in the same year serial production began, which resulted in the creation of 95 aircraft. The deck armament consisted of two 7.92 mm lMG 08/15 machine guns.

Siemens-Schuckert DI was created as a German response to the very successful French fighter Nieuport 17, which appeared on the front line in March 1916. The German label decided to rely heavily on captured French machines and used many solutions used in them. The main difference was in the engine used. As early as November 1916, the German armed forces placed an order for 150 Siemens-Schuckert DI aircraft, however production was very slow and encountered numerous problems - mainly of organizational nature. This led to a marked reduction in the order and a shift of effort to the Albatros D.III. Interestingly, a huge part of the produced Siemens-Schuckert DI went to aviation schools.
