There are racing cars that have made history and there is the Mercedes-Benz SSKL. If you want to recreate this piece of motorsport history, you don't want to have to search for the right accessories. With this starter kit you get everything from a single source. The box not only contains the highly detailed kit, but also the exact colors, a brush and the right glue. So you can sit down directly at the workbench and create the car with which Rudolf Caracciola shocked the Italian competition.

Features

  • Ready to go straight away: The set already includes the necessary Aqua Color base colors, a brush and the Contacta tube glue - ideal for beginners and gifts.
  • Historic triumph: Recreate the exact vehicle in which a non-Italian won the legendary “Mille Miglia” for the first time in 1931.
  • Fine details: The true-to-original spoke rims and the multi-part body ensure a realistic appearance on a scale of 1:32.
  • Authentic look: Thanks to the included decals you can give the model the original look of the starting number 87.
  • Challenging fun: With level 4 and 79 parts, the model offers an exciting challenge for hobbyists aged 12 and over.

The Mercedes-Benz SSKL (Super-Sport-Kurz-Leicht) was the ultimate in its time. As you assemble this model you will understand why. The openwork frame parts to reduce weight, the huge compressor engine and the aerodynamic line are also fascinating in the model. Since all the necessary materials are included, you can achieve the historical painting effortlessly. It is a compact model with great charisma that is reminiscent of a time when racing drivers were still real heroes.

Background information

The SSKL was the crowning achievement of the successful S series from Mercedes-Benz. The name stood for “Super-Sport-Short-Light”. To reduce the weight, the engineers even drilled holes in the vehicle frame - a radical measure at the time. The 7.1-liter six-cylinder engine produced a massive 300 hp with the compressor switched on. Rudolf Caracciola's victory in the 1931 Mille Miglia in this car is considered one of the greatest achievements in motorsport, as he competed against the superiority of Alfa Romeo without factory support and won.
