There are model kits. And then there are legends. The USS Constitution in 1:96 scale undoubtedly belongs to the latter category. To mark the momentous milestone of "250 Years of the US Navy" and "Sail 2025," Revell is re-releasing this maritime masterpiece. At over 90 cm long and with more than 1,300 parts, this model of the "Old Ironsides" is not merely a replica, but a tribute to the oldest warship still in service in the world. This kit demands respect, patience, and skill – and rewards you with a museum piece that will last for generations.

Features

  • A scale of superlatives: At 1:96, the ship unfolds its true splendor. Every deck, every cannon, and every mast is depicted at a size that allows for extremely high detail.
  • Challenge Level 5: With 1307 individual parts, this set is a marathon for experienced model builders. The complex rigging, in particular, is a project in itself.
  • Anniversary Edition: This set celebrates the role of the Constitution as a symbol of American naval history, just in time for the celebrations of 250 years of the US Navy.
  • Fascinating structures: The hull and deck feature the finest wood grain. The textured surface of the sails lends the model dynamism.
  • Impressive dimensions: With a length of 918 mm and a width (over the yards) of 680 mm, this ship dominates any room.

Building the USS Constitution is a journey back in time to 1797. You begin with the legendary hull, originally made of extremely hard Virginia oak. You install the detailed guns on the gun deck, construct the intricate lifeboats, and finally tackle the most challenging task: the standing and running rigging of the three massive masts. The illustrated instructions guide you safely through this complex process, which combines technical understanding with craftsmanship.

Background information

The USS Constitution was launched in 1797 and is the oldest seaworthy warship in the world. She earned her nickname "Old Ironsides" during the War of 1812, when British cannonballs reportedly ricocheted off her massive oak planks as if they were made of iron. She is more than a ship; she is a floating symbol of the strength and heritage of the U.S. Navy. She remains moored in Boston and is maintained by an active Navy crew.
