Although most recognised in the USA as the Civic Si, the EM1 body type was also sold in other regions under different badges, and with different colours available.
In Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, it was known as the 1.6VTi VTEC. In Australia, NZ and it was called the Civic VTi-R.

The motoring press of the time were unanimous in their praise of this unassuming and practical coupe, with equal grocery carrying and hooning capabilities (below and above 6,000 rpm respectively). More recent articles fondly remember a simpler time which the Civic Si exemplifies by doing all the essentials perfectly in a discrete and sensible package.
