The Mk.18 torpedo is an electrically propelled torpedo used by the US Navy during World War II.

Mk. 18 is the US Navy's first battery torpedo, designed as a torpedo for submarines.
The biggest advantage of the electric propulsion system was that it did not reveal the position of its own ship because it did not trace the wake of the launch, which was very advantageous in the daytime engagement.

There were no problems with the depth adjustment mechanism and fuse that had been a problem with Mk.14, but at a low speed of 29 knots compared to 45 knots of Mk.14, the submarine's launch tube regularly for charging and maintenance There were drawbacks such as having to pull out from.

About 30% of the torpedoes launched by the US Navy submarine during World War II were Mk.18, but retired in 1950 without improving the shortcomings.
