The Soviet midget submarine Sirena was a torpedo-shaped vehicle used to carry divers, designed for covert delivery, drop-off and returns. It was also used as a patrol craft, and in search and destruction missions to take out enemy underwater objects and ship hulls. It could also be used as a surface boat, and launched from a torpedo tube. The prototype was delivered in July 1958; it was tested in December 1959 from the 31st Scientific Navy test center in Feodosia. The sub entered production in 1960, and was adopted by the Navy in 1965.
