C-RAM is an abbreviation for anti-rocket, anti-artillery, and anti-mortar platform. As the name suggests, it is a weapon system used to counter enemy indirect fire threats such as rocket artillery, artillery, and mortars. It can detect and destroy artillery shells before they hit the ground, or provide early warning to ground troops.

C-RAM is a shipborne anti-ship missile defense system that transplants the Phalanx close-in weapon system from warships to a land-based platform. It is an automatic control system for Phalanx radar and its main weapon is a multi-barrel rotary cannon.
