The Polski Fiat 508/518 was a light utility vehicle developed in the 1930s for the Polish Army, blending the compact 508 chassis with the more robust mechanical components of the 518.

This versatile hybrid design produced a reliable, all-purpose military car capable of reconnaissance, liaison, transport, and support duties.

Lightweight, agile, and easy to maintain, it became one of the most widely used vehicles in Polish service before the outbreak of the Second World War.

This particular variant is equipped with the wz.30 heavy machine gun, Poland’s locally manufactured version of the American Browning M1917.

Mounted to provide mobile fire support, the wz.30 gave frontline units a valuable boost in firepower during defensive operations and reconnaissance missions.

Vehicles like the 508/518 HMG were employed in fast-moving roles during the September 1939 campaign, proving effective in ambushes, delaying actions, and local defence.

This model kit authentically represents the combat-ready configuration of the vehicle, featuring:

  • Accurately reproduced 508/518 chassis and bodywork, with fine detailing throughout
  • Heavy machine gun wz.30, complete with mounting hardware and ammunition components
  • Detailed interior, including seating, dashboard features, and stowage
  • Realistic suspension, wheels, and undercarriage, ideal for weathering
  • Optional equipment such as jerry cans, tools, and field gear (varies by kit)
  • Markings for Polish Army units during the 1939 defensive campaign
  • Excellent for early-war dioramas, reconnaissance scenes, or Polish military collections

Compact but full of character, the Polski Fiat 508/518 with HMG wz.30 offers a rewarding build that highlights the ingenuity and resilience of Poland’s pre-war military engineering.
