The sixth generation Cedric and seventh generation Gloria Y30 type were introduced in June 1983, with a full model change from the previous 430 series. The styling is mainly based on the straight lines that were continued from the predecessor, and the neat form was very popular. The Y30 gained a lot of attention because it was equipped with the first mass-produced V6 cylinder engine in a Japanese car, and one year later, the V30 Turbo Brougham VIP was announced, with a turbo incorporated into the VG30 engine.
