The H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV for short, another name: Kounotori) is the term for the contemporary series of Japanese unmanned transport spacecraft. The first successful flight of the ship in this series took place in 2009. A single HTV vessel is 9.2 meters long and 4.4 meters in diameter. The standard weight of the vehicle is 16.5 tons, with the load weight not exceeding 6 tons. The main task of ships of this type is to deliver supplies to the International Space Station (ISS). The ship is launched into orbit by the H-IIB carrier rocket. So far, all launches have been carried out from the Tanegashima Space Flight Center. It is worth adding that the HTV series of ships is clearly structurally different from the Russian Progress vehicles. Japanese ships, for example, can take more cargo on board, but do not have a comprehensive steering and docking system.
