The Penydarren locomotive is a steam locomotive (steam locomotive) that was manufactured in 1804 and was experimentally operated at the Penydarren steelworks (hence the name of the vehicle) in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. Sometimes the name Invicta is used to describe this vehicle - not entirely correct - It had a B-type axle system and was able to accelerate to only about 4 km / h. Its constructor was the British inventor and engineer Richard Trevithick, who a year earlier had created a de facto steam locomotive for the Coalbrookdale company. However, the company decided not to continue cooperation with the inventor and was unable to find a use for his invention. Shortly thereafter, Richard Trevithick started cooperation with Penydarren Ironworks, and in February 1804 a new vehicle was created that was able to move forward and backward on the tracks without major problems. However, the large mass of the engine made the tracks not adapted to such a large mass crack. Unfortunately, further work on this locomotive was suspended, and the only one of it has not survived to our times.
