Wilesco 0003 D3 Steam Engine

Model steam engine with upright boiler

The D3 is the smallest dry fuel-powered steam engine in the Wilesco range and is still relatively new to our repertoire.

The special feature is its upright mounted shell made of highly polished brass and the oscillating cylinder. Due to the upright kettle, our D3 model has a base size of just 16 x 12.5 cm with a kettle capacity of 50 cm³. This model can move one of our smooth-running drive models.

The red base plate and the black boiler house are made of printed sheet steel. The elegant look of this model alone is a real feast for the eyes!

The two sight glasses show the water level. Where the glass of the water gauge is fogged up, there is no water. The water level can be easily read on the clear part of the glass. When the water tank is full, the D3 needs short breaks in operation to build up enough steam power again. From half the water level, nothing stands in the way of continuous operation with the characteristic noise.

Please oil your D3 particularly well at the beginning, during the first runs of the steam engine the speed may be a little lower. Once the piston has run in, the machine really gets going!
