The 50 series was introduced in 1977 to replace aging, older passenger cars, incorporating automatic doors for improved safety. The 51-type (Oha 51 and Ohafu 51) passenger cars for Hokkaido were introduced in 1978 as cold-climate vehicles with smaller windows and double-glazed windows. These cars are used in various parts of Hokkaido, but in the Sapporo area, a maximum of 8-car trains are mainly operated between Iwamizawa and Otaru.

Features

• Reproduces windows that are smaller than those of the 50 series for cold regions
• Reproduces the single-color paint of Red No. 2 for the car body
• Side indicator lights already installed

• The window frame is printed on the back of the window to reproduce the atmosphere of double-glazed windows
• The car number is selectable and a transfer sheet is included
• Both ends of the Ohaf's taillights are illuminated and each has an ON-OFF switch
• Uses KD couplers (KD coupler No. 5)
• Can pass through a minimum radius of R600 (excluding S-shaped lines)
