The Kiha 40 series is a general-purpose diesel car that was introduced in 1977. The Kiha 40-100 series for Hokkaido has been converted to one-man operation and undergoes life extension work, becoming the 1700 series and operating throughout the prefecture, but due to aging, their numbers are gradually decreasing, and the Kiha 40 series between Takikawa and Furano on the Nemuro Main Line will cease operation with the March 2025 timetable revision.

  • Reproduces all four Kiha 40-1700 series cars, nos. 1722, 1744, 1745 and 1775, which were in service on March 14, the day before the 2025 timetable change
  • The car numbers are printed on the sides and front, and nos. 1722 and 1775 are equipped with motors
  • Nos. 1722 and 1775 have the sign inserts on the connecting doors on the two ends of cars formerly assigned to Kushiro printed in silver
  • No. 1775, which was originally a late model Kiha 40-100, is fitted with a newly manufactured skirt with a less inclined angle, a characteristic of the later models
  • Jumper hoses can be reproduced in three dimensions using separate parts
  • Two types of interchangeable printed "One Man" signs on the front are included, with slightly different fonts only on the second end of no. 1744,
    In addition, there are two "Rapid One-Man" express trains with red letters and two "Rapid One-Man" express trains with all green letters that can be reproduced on days other than the final day.
    Also included are two "special" trains for tours that also serve as out-of-service trains.
  • The head and tail lights and front display are equipped with a constant lighting circuit board and an ON-OFF switch.
  • The head and tail lights and front display are illuminated by white LEDs.
  • The head lights use a color prism to illuminate in a color close to incandescent light.
  • The shoelaces and door rails are reproduced in silver.
  • As a memorial, a booklet introducing its service on the Nemuro Main Line is included, and the train is packaged in a book-type case inside a box.
  • Uses a power source with a flywheel.
  • Uses a new current collection system and black wheels.
  • Uses an M-13 motor.
  • TN coupler (SP) is standard equipment.
