The E6 series, which was introduced in 2013, operates at a maximum speed of 320 km/h (as of 2022) on the Tohoku Shinkansen line when coupled with the E5 series.

In recent years, in consideration of the increasing size of baggage, baggage storage areas have been installed inside the cars, and some of the windows have been blocked off.
