Vallejo 76550 Weathering Effects Chipping Medium 35ml

New waterbased Medium to create flaked paint, scratches, and rust chips. Chipping Medium can be applied with airbrush or brush to create chipping effects with waterbased acrylic colors. 

How to Use:

• Base Layer – Rust/Bare Metal Colour:
  
  • Apply your chosen undercoat (rust, steel, or base colour). Let it cure fully for 12–24 hours.
• Apply Chipping Medium – Vallejo Chipping Medium:
  
  • Spray or brush on a thin, even coat. A lighter application gives finer chips. Allow to dry for around 30 minutes.
• Top Layer – Final Paint Colour:
  
  • Apply a thin layer of acrylic paint over the medium. Avoid thick layers, as these may peel off in large sections.
• Drying Time:
  
  • Leave the top coat to dry for 15 minutes to 1 hour. It should be dry to the touch but not fully cured.
• Chipping Effect – Tool Abrasion:
  
  • Using a toothpick, stiff brush, or similar tool, gently scratch or rub the surface. This will lift sections of the top layer, revealing the base colour beneath for a realistic weathered look.
