The 100 series Shinkansen is a Shinkansen train that was introduced on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines in 1985.

Unlike its predecessor, the 0 series, the front end has a sharp shape called a shark nose, and the middle car is a two-story car.

It was in service on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines for a long time, but with the introduction of its successor, it was withdrawn from the Tokaido Shinkansen in 2003 and from the Sanyo Shinkansen in 2012, and is now exhibited in museums and other places.
