The 70s were a wild time in Formula 1: high airboxes, wide tires and engine noise that went through your bones. With the Surtees TS16/03 starter kit you can bring exactly this flair home. The special thing about this set: you don't have to worry about the accessories. Everything you need to build this classic race car - from the basic paints to the brush to the glue - is already included. So you can concentrate fully on the challenge, because this model has it all.

Features

  • Everything at hand: No searching for the right shade or glue. The set includes Aqua Color paints, a brush and Contacta glue.
  • Sophisticated technology: Don't let the 1:32 scale fool you. At level 5, this kit is a real test of your patience and fine motor skills.
  • Mechanical details: The multi-part 3-liter engine and the complex bodywork provide a deep insight into the racing technology of 1974.
  • Vivid scenery: An included driver figure ensures that the cockpit does not look deserted and gives the model dynamism.
  • Historical Accuracy: Build the exact version that competed at the South African Grand Prix (Kyalami) in March 1974.

This model is a tribute to private engineering in racing. The Surtees TS16 impresses with its striking shape, which you can precisely recreate thanks to the multi-part body. Since it is a Level 5 model, it is aimed at model makers who have experience and enjoy working with delicate small parts. The result is a finely detailed display piece that is reminiscent of a time when drivers were still mechanics and team bosses took the steering wheel themselves.

Background information

John Surtees is a legend: he is the only person to have become world champion on both a motorcycle and a Formula 1 car. After his playing career, he founded his own team. The TS16 was the operational car for the 1974 season and was driven by, among others, the German racing great Jochen Maas and the Briton Derek Bell. The model shows the car in the South African Grand Prix configuration. It's a piece of motorsport history that perfectly captures the passion and daring of that era.
