Background information

In 1972, Porsche decided to conquer the American racetracks. With the open 917/10 they turned to the extremely popular CanAm series. The result was a demonstration of power: thanks to turbocharging and perfect coordination - including from the legendary Roger Penske team - Porsche dominated the event at will. The 917/10 ended McLaren's years of dominance and won the championship title twice in a row. It is considered one of the strongest and fastest racing cars ever built
