The Fairey Delta 2 is a masterpiece of British aviation history. Dora Wings presents this 1/72 scale kit (DW72009), meticulously designed to capture the sharp lines and experimental nature of this record-breaker. It is an essential addition for modelers interested in high-speed research aircraft and the UK’s contribution to the supersonic age.

The Fairey Delta 2 (FD2) was a British supersonic research aircraft produced by the Fairey Aviation Company in response to a specification from the Ministry of Supply for investigation into flight and control at transonic and supersonic speeds. On 10 March 1956, it broke the World Air Speed Record, becoming the first aircraft to exceed 1,000 mph (1,600 km/h) in level flight. Its most distinctive feature was the “droop-nose” section, which lowered to improve the pilot’s forward view during takeoff and landing—a design later famously used on the Concorde.
