The M76 Otter was a compact, tracked amphibious cargo carrier developed by the United States Marine Corps during the Cold War era.

Designed for mobility in rugged and swampy terrain, it saw extensive use during the Vietnam War, particularly in reconnaissance and resupply roles.

The late production variant featured improved reliability and refinements to its lightweight aluminum hull, offering better corrosion resistance and enhanced serviceability in tropical environments.

Powered by a Chrysler 6-cylinder petrol engine, the M76 could carry up to 1,000 kg of cargo or six fully equipped troops, while maintaining a low profile ideal for riverine and jungle operations.

Its fully amphibious capability, thanks to twin rear water jets, allowed it to seamlessly transition between land and water, making it an essential vehicle for patrol and logistics missions in areas inaccessible to wheeled transport.

The M76 Otter was eventually replaced by the more advanced M116 Husky, but it remains a notable example of innovative U.S. military engineering during the Vietnam conflict.
