Model kits often conceal their most fascinating technology beneath a firmly glued-on shell. Especially with early jet aircraft, one wants to understand what made the revolutionary propulsion system so special. Many models either deny this insight or require expensive accessories. With the Gloster Meteor F.8 in an impressive 1:32 scale, we're changing that. Here, you have the opportunity not only to build the heart of the machine – the engines – but also to display them separately alongside the aircraft. This set is the answer for anyone seeking pure model building without unnecessary frills and who wants to focus entirely on the realistic rendering of technical details.

The F.8 is considered the most elegant and refined version of the Meteor family. Building this model will allow you to practically feel the evolution from propeller-driven aircraft to jet. The lines are classic, but the wing-mounted nacelles hint at the new power. Since this is a conversion based on new tooling, you can expect contemporary detailing.

You have complete creative freedom with this project. Use the option of displaying the engines open to create a maintenance diorama, or build the Meteor ready for takeoff with a pilot in the cockpit. The included markings for Australia's 77 Squadron also offer the exciting option of depicting an aircraft from the Korean War – a historically fascinating scenario for your display case.

The Gloster Meteor made history as the first operational jet fighter of the Allies in World War II. However, it was with the F.8 version, introduced in 1950, that the aircraft reached its technological zenith. With a lengthened fuselage, increased fuel capacity, and a redesigned tail, it became the mainstay of the Royal Air Force. It marked the transition to a new era of aviation, in which speed and climb performance were suddenly redefined. The Meteor F.8 proved to be a reliable workhorse not only in Europe but also during the arduous operations over Korea, earning the respect of its pilots.
