They use electroreceptors, 6-inch tongues and multi-coloured spines to survive on their own. The Echidna EUGY was made in association with the Royal Australian Mint and appears on the Australian 5 cent coin.

The echidna is a true food magician. It slips out a long, sticky tongue to sweep up ants and termites in an instant. With strong claws, it digs into the ground to find food and create safe hideaways — a survival expert in a tough environment.

It’s also one of the most unique mammals in the world. Even though it’s a mammal, it lays eggs! Only two kinds of animals on Earth do that — a rare wonder of nature.

And this EUGY Echidna is extra special. We collaborated with the Royal Australian Mint to celebrate the symbolic importance of this remarkable creature. Like the beloved echidna on Australian coins, this model carries the pride of Australia’s wildlife.
