Classic Carletables 18884 1/18 Holden VY SS Ute Phantom Mica

Australians have a unique love for their Utes. Originally a workhorse of the farm, the modern Ute has many personalities, from surf culture, trades people and highly modified custom vehicles.

Released in 2002, the VY Ute was facelift to the popular VU, most notable was the new, sharper-designed nose, and European-styled interior.

Three options packages were carried over from the VU Ute, with the SS being the top of the range. The VY SS featured the High Output 5.7 litre V8 Engine that now had 245kW of power, and was paired with a 6 speed manual as standard. Power wasn’t the only upgrade to the SS, with sturt braces, body kit and high performance exhaust system.

In addition to the Ute the VY also added the Crewman and the return of the One Tonner to the Holden range, sparking rapid expansion of the Holden Ute range, its first major growth since its 1990 re-introduction.
