Hobby Master 1/72 RF-4B Phantom II 157351 VMFP-3 El Toro 1990

In 1990, USMC Marine Tactical Photo Reconnaissance Squadron 3 (VMFP-3), the "Eyes of the Corps," operated the RF-4B Phantom II from Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, California. As the Marine Corps' only dedicated tactical reconnaissance squadron, VMFP-3 flew photographic, infrared, and side looking airborne radar missions in support of Marine Air Ground Task Force and fleet operations. The squadron represented the final active US military unit operating the reconnaissance Phantom before its retirement. VMFP-3 was deactivated later that year as its mission transitioned to F/A-18D Hornets equipped with the Advanced Tactical Airborne Reconnaissance System.
