The Airbus A300B4 Beluga, officially known as the A300-600ST Super Transporter, is a modified version of the A300 widebody airliner developed to transport oversized aircraft components and cargo. Introduced in 1995, it features an enlarged fuselage with a distinctive “whale-like” shape and a raised cockpit allowing unobstructed loading through the front. Powered by two General Electric CF6-80C2 engines, it has a maximum payload of around 47 tonnes and a range of 1,600 nautical miles. Operated by Airbus Transport International, the Beluga revolutionised Airbus logistics, later succeeded by the larger A330-based BelugaXL for improved efficiency and capacity.
