AMP 72019 Keldysh Sub-Orbital Bomber in 1/72 scale is a unique plastic model kit depicting a conceptual Soviet sub-orbital rocket bomber from the post-war era. This extremely interesting model set offers not only the satisfaction of building a rarely seen vehicle, but also a deeper insight into the technical aspirations of Soviet scientists during the Cold War.

The Keldysh Sub-Orbital Bomber was a project developed in the USSR in the late 1940s, during the growing arms race of the Cold War. Its name derives from Academician Mstislav Keldysh – one of the leading Soviet aviation designers and scientists. The project was a response to the need for nuclear payload delivery systems capable of quickly traversing long distances and penetrating air defense systems. In practice, the Keldysh sub-orbital bomber was intended to launch with the help of carrier rockets, reach the edge of the atmosphere, and return to earth in a gliding flight. Although it never advanced beyond the prototype stage and remained only a concept, it was one of the most ambitious attempts to create a new generation of strategic weapons.
