The F2 kit car regulation set in 1994 was only for naturally aspirated engines up to 2 liters and 2WD, but the remodeling range of each part was set wider than that of Group A machines at the time, and several manufacturers participated in the race; one of them was the Peugeot 306 Maxi. It was a 2WD FF equipped with an inline 4-cylinder 2-liter naturally aspirated engine installed in a rally car developed by Peugeot in 1995. It's said that the highly tuned engine produced 250 horsepower, and it was equipped with an X-track sequential gearbox with a 7-speed cross ratio to make full use of its power. The vehicle body weighed a mere 960kg, and in the tarmac rally it showed speed that threatened turbo 4WD machines; in 1996 and 1997, it became the French national champion.
