The P-35 was a single seat, single engine, fighter built for the United States Army Air Corps in the late 1930s. It was the first single seat fighter, built for the Air Corps, of all-metal construction, retractable landing gear and enclosed cockpit. The P-35 was introduced into service in 1937. A total of 196 P-35s were produced. After the United States entered World War II, the P-35 participated in the defense of the Philippines.
