When Ford Motor Company asked Carroll Shelby to apply his championship winning formula to the Mustang, the Shelby GT350 was born. Shelby created a competition, or "R" model to compete worldwide. The car was an example of form that beautifully follows functionality. Fewer than 40 total of them were built in 1965.
