Its ultra-micro size makes it the ideal choice for a smaller trainer model that can be flown in yards, parks, soccer fields, football fields and other suitable spaces where larger models can't typically be flown successfully by first-time pilots. Exclusive SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology helps to prevent over-control, loss of orientation and crashes so nearly everyone can learn to fly successfully. Beginner, Intermediate and Experienced modes allow you to choose the level of stability and control you need, or are ready to try, at the flip of a switch
One of the most popular RC trainer models ever, the HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 has undergone an update. Featuring exclusive crash avoidance SAFE technology and new telemetry capabilities your beginner learning flights are now easier and safer.
If you are just starting your journey in RC airplanes then you could progress quickly with the HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2. As the next evolution of one of the most popular trainer aircraft ever designed and built with the beginner in mind, the HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2, built-in an ultra-micro size, gives you the perfect beginner plane built for flying in smaller areas that are not normally suited to larger aircraft. If you add on the optional float set (EFLUA1190 äóñ sold separately) you can also utilise local pools, ponds and dams.
Once youäó»ve got the basics down pat the world of RC plane flight opens up to you and the HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 has some tricks up its sleeve so you can delve into the world of aerobatics. The combination of a durable lightweight airframe and a powerful electric motor give you some pretty cool aerobatic manoeuvre options äóñ rolls, loops and inverted flight will become more familiar to you as your flying improves. Experienced pilots can also enjoy the HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 and act as teachers with the BNF (HBZ44500) version and their Spektrum transmitter, batteries and charger. The RTF is a first-time pilots friend as it gives you a rechargeable LiPo flight battery and a compatible USB charger, AA batteries for the transmitter, and, a Spektrum transmitter (controller) that is equipped with industry-leading 2.4GHz DSMX technology. Best of all is that the HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 is good to go right out of the box without any need for assembly.
Learning to fly successfully means possibly crashing from time to time. To help with this your HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 comes equipped with option SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) Select technology. SAFE Select helps to prevent the curse of most beginners äóñ overcontrol. Before you get used to how the plane and your transmitter handles you will be almost certainly exposed to your own over control or mild panic as you try to get your RC plane back on the straight and narrow. This is where SAFE Select is very much your friend. At the flip of a switch, SAFE Select will kick in and depending on the level of assistance you need (Beginner/Intermediate/Expert) the levels associated with each mode will kick in and provide stability and control as well as a Panic Recovery mode that will instantly return you to level flight. The evolutionary nature of the HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 sees it now equipped with improved telemetry capabilities that give the pilot an indication of how much flight battery voltage remains. This is ideal information for any pilot but especially for beginners ensuring you know how much power your HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 still has left.
As mentioned your HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 comes with SAFE Select technology. This is a particularly good option if you are just starting with your flying, or, want to factor in an additional margin of safety. You can activate SAFE select before launch and it will switch on some flight envelope managing functions.
Beginner Mode
Using this flight mode gives you bank (left/right) angle limits as well as pitch (up/down) limits that prevent you from over-control which in turn leads to losing orientation of your RC plane and then the inevitable crash. If you do panic in this mode you can just release the control sticks and the HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 will return to level flight giving you time to regather and just äóÖsteeräó» the plane before resuming full control. Takeoffs are made super easy in this mode as all you need to do is give it full throttle off a suitable surface, or, hand launch it. Landings are also just as simple with only a lowering of the throttle involved and the HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 will glide in to land on its own.
Intermediate Mode
The Intermediate mode gives you a bit more freedom in your bank and pitch limits while also preventing pronounced over-control incidents. The airplane will not return to level flight on its own if you release the sticks, which forces you to advance your skills in the recovery process. Faster climbs and descents, as well as tighter turns, are also achievable which again will lead to an improvement in your flying.
Experienced Mode
This mode means that SAFE Select is off with no bank angle or pitch limits and you essentially have full control.
Panic Recovery Mode
When you are in Intermediate or Experienced flight modes you can still lose control. To activate Panic Recovery ie: release the sticks and return to stable flight, you just need to activate this mode by pushing a button and then releasing the control sticks. The HobbyZone Sport Cub S 2 will then return to level flight as SAFE technology regains control.
