Mr. Mark Softer is a decal softener. It can soften surfaces with uneven molds, curved surfaces, hard decals, etc. and make them blend into the surface. You can achieve the effect by applying it over the decal that has been pasted in advance. Be careful not to apply too much as the softening solvent will quickly soften the decal.

The decal itself may melt, break when following the surface, or erode the painted surface. This product is water soluble. Adding water as appropriate will dilute the effect of the solvent and prevent rapid softening. Depending on the painted surface to be used and the type of decal, it may be best to dilute it with water before use.

After pasting the decal, lightly press down on the decal with a lightly dampened Mr. cotton swab, Mr. Cleanstick 2, or a dust-free cloth to make sure the decal follows the surface of the part.

At that time, wipe off the excess Mr. Mark Softer to prevent it from becoming too soft. Using a cotton swab moistened with water will neutralize the Mark Softer and prevent it from becoming too soft with solvent.

If there are air bubbles between the decal and the part (silvering), carefully punch a hole in the decal using a needle or design knife after the decal has dried. Then, by applying Mr. Mark Softer again, the decal will soften again, the air bubbles will disappear, and the decal will adhere firmly to the surface of the part.

One way to prevent silvering is to finish the base to which the decal will be applied with a glossy surface. We have changed the main agent used in the old product to an environmentally friendly one and redesigned it.

Following changes are as follows.

  • Decals soften more easily. Silvering is now less likely to occur even when used over semi-gloss or matte paint instead of glossy paint.
  • It has more ability to dissolve water-based hobby colors than previous products. This is especially noticeable when the drying time is short, so please dry thoroughly and avoid applying too much. When using it, it is best to dilute Mark Softer with water to lower its dissolving power before use.

It depends on the drying time of the paint film, the volume used, the method of wiping, etc., but the standard dilution is approximately 10%.
