Lap scoring confusion gave McPhees 13D the checkered flag, with the 14D being recorded as finishing second.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLater the scrutineers found the inlet valves were not identical to the 327 specifications and the car was disqualified. A protest commenced on the grounds that the valves were the only ones available from Holden. While the Radial Tuned Suspension (RTS) had its biggest impact on the GTS, many more appointments helped to make it more of a stand-alone package, including four quartz halogen head lamps, mesh grille, colour-coded front and rear spoilers and bumpers and subtle body stripes and detailing on optioned-up versions. The HZ GTS initially was offered as a 4.2 V8, but was dropped in April 1978 when power steering became standard. So Holden’s classic 308ci (5.0 litre) became the power source.
