The Heien is the first domestically built warship in the Qing Dynasty. Armor was imported from France and Germany. At the time of her construction, her name was Ryuei, but it was changed to Heien when she was transferred to the Beiyang Fleet. She engaged and damaged the Matsushima during the Battle of the Yalu River in the Sino-Japanese War, but she was also damaged and withdrew to Weihai.
She was captured by the Japanese Army in 1895, and transferred to the Japanese Navy; she was used by the Japanese Navy for about ten years after her capture. Her main gun was a Krupp 26cm gun mounted on a single turret -- a large caliber gun at the time. On her way back from the patrol during the Russo-Japanese War's Siege of Port Arthur (September 18, 1905), she was sunk by a mine.
The total length of the kit is about 41 cm
Handrails and ladders on the mast are reproduced with etched parts
